Kara Kamenski
Dance Educator, Choreographer, & Yoga Instructor
About
Kara Kamenski is an experienced dance educator and choreographer in both K-12 and private settings. She holds a Master's in Dance Education and a BFA in Dance Performance from Mason Gross School of the Arts at Rutgers University.
Currently, Kara is a dance educator at a middle school in New Jersey, where she has overseen significant growth in the dance program over the past two years. She also directs the afterschool dance program, choreographing and leading performances throughout the district.
During her graduate studies, Kara completed a student teaching internship at Clifton High School in New Jersey. This experience solidified her commitment to fostering a love for dance in young students. Additionally, she played a pivotal role in establishing an afterschool dance program at the Paul Robeson School for the Community Arts in New Brunswick, NJ. This initiative, developed in collaboration with her EdM cohort, provided a creative outlet and valuable dance education to students in the community. She also studied abroad at Trinity Laban Conservatoire of Music and Dance in London, England, enriching her global perspective on dance and education.
Kara is dedicated to fostering creativity, expression, and technical proficiency in her students, creating inclusive and engaging learning environments. She looks forward to contributing her expertise and enthusiasm to a new school community.
K-12 Dance Education
I believe that dance education supports the hollistic development of all students. Through culturally relevent pedagogy and inquiry based learning, I aim to provide student-centered learning experiences that support all learners in my classroom.
Choreography & Performance
My choreography explores everyday experiences and personal reflections through dance.
Yoga Instructor
I hold a 200-hour Vinyasa Yoga Certification and 100-hour Yin Yoga Certification. My practice focuses on connecting your mind and body through breathwork, mindfulness, and movement. I have experience teaching yoga to all ages, ranging from preschool to adult, and a variety of settings, including studios and private lessons.
